“And suddenly, you know…

it’s time to start something new and trust the magic of beginnings.”

We’ve lived next door to Jackie and Steve for the past four years. Four years of wonderful neighborly conversations and meals together. Four years of friendship that, frankly, I took for granted because I thought we’d be neighbors forever and we’d have plenty of time for hanging out (and eating Fairy Bread and Pavlova at their Australia Day potluck). But, I was wrong. Now I know we should’ve had them over for beer and cocktails more often.  I had visions of Pearl and Iris standing at the end of the driveway together, waiting for the school bus to take them off to kindergarten. Damn. We’re going to miss them so much!

We’re also going to miss Jackie’s parent’s, Cam & Gail, who two years ago purchased the house on the other side of us so they’d have a place to stay for their extended visits to see Jackie and family. They, too, are selling their home so we’re getting new neighbors on both sides. It’s going to be a big change for everyone!

Knowing that their time here was limited, Jackie asked me to capture some final images of them at their home and her parent’s. We picked a day last month when Cam and Gail were here and I spent the morning photographing breakfast on the patio followed by playing in the yard. Afterwards we walked to Cam and Gail’s where Jackie unveiled a tiny cake for an impromptu belated birthday celebration for Urban who had turned one the week before. I think the pics from his cake smash are my favorites. I’m so glad I had the opportunity to capture the joy they experienced that morning!

Jackie, Steve, Iris, Urban, Cam and Gail… we love you guys and are going to miss you all so very, very much!! Can’t wait to visit you in Vancouver sometime 😉

XOXO Rebecca and family 🙂
