Shaun and Andy were married this past Sunday at the beautiful The Springs Event Venue overlooking Skiatook Lake, just north of Tulsa, Oklahoma. Shaun is one of my sister’s best friends, so when she reached out to me about wedding photography, I was super excited. I lived in Oklahoma from the time I was in 6th grade until a year after I graduated from high school. All of that time, I had no idea that 30 minutes away from our house was this beautiful lake and that years later I would be there photographing a beautiful outdoor ceremony. The forecast showed that storms would be rolling in on the day of the wedding, but thankfully Mother Nature held off. Some couples wish for sunny skies on their wedding day but I always secretly wish for clouds. It’s like shooting under a big beautiful softbox that makes for lovely, evenly lit images, just like we experienced on Sunday. And that rain? Well, the timing couldn’t have been better, as we just started to feel the first sprinkles when they made their grand exit to the HELICOPTER!! Yeah, that was a first! Thanks again to Shaun and Andy for asking me to document the first day of their lives together as husband and wife. Congrats to the newlyweds!
